Dawson's Creek Extra
Sunday 15th January 2012, Avon, Colorado.
We were buying a load of gear for our stay but I didn't really have much of a clue until Clif turned up. He was gentle and knowledgeable and helped us get set up. We noticed that Clif had a rather nasty black eye and on the way home we debated the likely cause and put it down to a ski accident.
I had a good feeling about Clif and when I returned to his shop to pick up our stuff, I casually left an invite behind. I waited to hear back, but no response came. After a few days I called the shop, but Clif's attitude had changed. He had found the invite, but he was sceptical. Nevertheless, he agreed to meet up for coffee.
Clif's initial misgivings soon evaporated, as I explained the project and it turned out that the timing couldn't have been better. Clif had been suffering from seizures and had recently collapsed on the way to work, waking up in hospital with a fractured eye socket. He was behind with his medical bills and I hoped the money could take the pressure off. We took some shots and Clif was charming and a good model. He was very relaxed in front of the camera and when I asked him if he had done this kind of thing before he told me that Dawson's Creek was often filmed in his village and he'd regularly appeared as an extra.
Questions & Answers
1. What were your first thoughts and feelings when propositioned with Wearelucky?
When I was first propositioned with the project I was in total disbelief. I honestly thought it was some type of scam because I thought there was absolutely no way someone wanted to just hand over a thousand dollars to me for seemingly no reason.
2. What have you decided to do with the money?
I had over five thousand dollars in medical bills, had missed several weeks of work due to being in the hospital and had no idea how I was going to pay off my bills. I was so stressed out and then you guys came along and changed my entire life!
3. What does 'good' mean to you?
To me 'good' means helping someone in their time of need. Good means helping whenever possible no matter how big or small it is you never know how much it can mean to a person.
4. Did you think about spending the money on yourself and what difference the money might make to your life?
I did spend the money on myself but I certainly don't think it was in a selfish way. Now I want to give back much more then I have been.
5. What question you like to ask Wearelucky?
The only real question I can think of is: Why choose me?
